A tired U.S. Marine assigned to the 1st Marine Division during the evacuation from the Chosin
Reservior sometime in early December 1950. 8000 Marines were cut off by over 120,000 Red Chinese Army soldiers. Between November 27 through December 11, 1950, U.S. Marines & Army personnel were forced to withdrawal & fight their way over 78 miles of mountainous country from the Chosin Reservior to the Sea of Japan. It was the coldest winter in over 100 years with temperatures reaching minus 50 F.. In the words of one Marine, "We aren't retreating, we are just fighting in a different direction!" Survivors of the withdrawal are know as the "Chosin Few"!
