Here's a update on the cottage, just want to mention the only the window seals are done I have to redo the frames, for I'm
going to make them thicker so I can cut the track for the windows into the frames, that way it'll be all one piece so I won't have
to glue little strips of wood onto the frames. The windows are going to work just like the real ones, I'm even going to be able to
make old style storm and screen windows to put on, so you can get it ready for winter or summer. Also found what I can use
for glass in the windows, plastic from them clear computer CD cases. The last two sections of chimney have to be covered in
plywood just like the bottom section, but am still deciding if it's going to be stone or brick.
Lastly the roofs which still have to be constructed, are going to have standing seam aluminum roofs, my great grandfathers house that was built in 1897 still has the same standing seam roof that was put on when it was built, it's just starting to go bad, but the reason I'm choosing this type of roof is because on one of our friends houses, they have a very low pitch porch roof that normaly would have had a tar roof and instead it has the same standing seam roof that's on my great grandfathers house, their house was built around the same time as my cottage. My porch roof also is low pitch, but covered in rubber. Also included are pictures of the one I live in, and progress on Hogies chairs, all eight back are done tomorrow it will be time to cut out legs. |
