I start with outside the convention center. There was a nice display of WW II vehicles
which included the following vehicles: M-5 Stuart, Halftrack and this great looking
Kubelwagen. All of the world war II vehicles were used in the battle at Universal on Saturday
evening. It had to be experienced to be believed. What a show. When the Stuart rolled into the
square with main gun blazing, I wanted to wave an American flag. It was like being in a color
episode of Combat. The only thing missing were the little ricochet noises. There was also an
M-1 Abrams and an M-113 there (not a Bradley). I didn't get good pictures of them.
Another nice part of the convention was the inclusion of Re-enactment groups, the Seals, national guard and local police units. Each had nice displays inside the hall of period equipment, and there was re-enactors walking around that you could talk to. In a lot of cases this was probably the first time that some of the younger people had seen this equipment for real. -- Point Man |
