I used 1/2" and 1/4" x 36 length pine slats from Home Depot. The 1/2" went inside front to back by cutting a slot in the front face of the APC. Slide the slat forward till it's even with the front track cover. Place the 1/4" slat outside the rail even back to back with the 1/2" slat. Mark a radias on the 1/2 slat and repeat for the other side. Once both sides are together, clamp, and with a small drill bit, pilot hole about 4 or 5 drill points alternating up and down in the rails. It is very important to do this otherwise the wood will split. Once the pilot holes are drilled on both sides, remove the slats and clamp each side together. Match the pilot holes, use a screw to hold together. |
These are mandatory. Gloves, mask, assortment of brushes, a 1 quart mixing bowl, Fiberglass Resin and hardener. Fill the bowl with resin and 1/4 of the tube of hardener.Mix thoroughly with the brush. This mixture will give you a 15 to 17 minute working time. Start at the top and work down. Evenly spreading with brush. Once all is covered, let dry for at least 4 hours. If more coats are needed, repeat the process. Good Luck! |
This is base APC hull complete. Next are the tracks, interior details, gun mounts, armament, hinges and hatches, and exterior detail. |
These are the beginnings of my track system. These are PVC pipe caps. 2 3" caps and a 2" spacer will make the road wheels. Bicycle chain on each gear will be joined with rubber block gied to a popsicle stick, then bolted to the chain on each side. Should work in theory. |
