Vince: It's also got these neat little storage compartments back here, as well as folding seats and a field radio (compartments feature working hinges and locks, seats are upholstered and have foam cushions). |
Tony: This is the US signal corps SCR-610 set with BC-659 Radio Transmitter/Receiver and hand held microphone (On the left is the real 1:1, On the right is mine, which is mostly made from styrene. The antenna line that exits it, is actually the antenna for the R/C receiver). |
Vince: Next, we'll go to the back of the vehicle. Down below you can see the rear axle and differential. |
Vince: A little further up is the transmission, exhaust, and (bottom of pic) the gas tank (this is an older picture before I got to paint the gas tank. Both the tank and exhaust are made of aluminum. Currently, I'm finishing a project to make smoke come out the exhaust using a smoker unit from an old toy train). |
Tony: Here you can see the front springs, driveshaft, axle, and steering linkage (the black thing at top is the steering servo). |
Tony: Here's a view of the (working) tow hitch in the open position. With this, the jeep can pull a utility trailer, 105 or maybe even 155 howitzer. Vince: Ya pulling big loads is a lot of fun! (The tow hitch I sculpted out of a small block of plastic. It can fit the Joe 155 tow hook and locks when closed down. Currently I'm working to make a good trailer using a vintage Joe trailer and the 155 hook. Pulling the Howitzer is fun, but it's WAY to big a load for a jeep. I had one really bad accident with it that I don't want to happen again.) |
